HELP!!! Oil Pressure Dropped to 0

So I was out driving and at a light the oil pressure dropped to 0. I turned off the motor. Light turned green and I restarted. Oil pressure went to 2 bar then faded. I pulled off to the side of the road and am waiting for the tow truck driver. Per dipstick, car has oil.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I just saw that. Where is the best place for them to attach the hook for the flat bed?

On a stock 944, the "best" place (more only) if on the front control arms...

As far as the oil pressure, what oil are you running? I have never had an issue on the street, but on track I have overheated. It could be your running a light weight oil and it over heats...?

I'm running 20w50. Oil pressure died suddenly. Normal hot idle pressure for me is 2-3 bar. I'm betting money on either the crank bolt loosening or something with the OPRV. I'll know on Monday. I had it towed to the mechanic.

Both are possibilities. Also could be a cracked oil pickup tube. I know that's kind of a weak point in the car. Paper towels also come to mind...

Always start by putting in a flywheel lock and retorquing the crank nose bolt. It's amazing how many issues that solves.

Scooby, I hope you are not going back to the same mechanic that misaligned your OPRV and caused it to break in half. Now, it's a loose crank bolt.

Update...

Just got a call from the mechanic.

Crank bolt was fine. Car really had no oil pressure (not a gauge problem).

The OPRV jammed in the open position. He inserted the alignment tool and determined that the housing IS properly aligned.

He indicated that despite the high cost, he does not feel comfortable installing used OPRVs from unknown sources, even they have been taken apart and resealed. For once, I've decided not to cheap on this...as it's such a critical item.

Well, there goes the budget for the Konis...

No...the previous "mechanic" was a friend with a shop and lots of non-Porsche experience. But very admittedly his first time doing any work on a 944.

It is currently at the (much more expensive) shop of a Porsche Master Tech who was at Beverly Hills Porsche when 944s were still sold new.
