Porsche Crest Cruise Control

I have a 1984 944 N.A without cruise control. Looks, runs and drives great. Love to drive it and even made several hundred mile trips and wish I had cruise control. Seems like the wiring is factory installed and hangs by where the servo unit should be in front of battery. I have a rough idea of what I need. Can you guys tell me exactly what parts I need, from what years and how easy or hard is it? Is it a reliable unit or it will turn in to a PITA for me and may be better off without it? Thanks a lot guys for all the good advise I am getting. You are a GREAT BUNCH!!!
George.

Seems like just a couple of things. On the steering column you need the cruise switch (#4 below)

Also, your going to need the cruise control unit, (#1 below) which i believe is the "computer"

And the drive unit, (#5 below) which goes under the hood by your battery.

That should be it as far as i know, other than the wiring...

But most guys here are going to tell you that its not worth it, unless you really are going to use it. Most don't use it and just take it out. its all personal preference.

GL,
-Ryan

You will also need EVERYTHING in the second diagram. If you can find an early in your local JY you might be able to grab all you need?

There have also been several posts where the solder joints in the control module fail. Not to be negative but, if your speedometer needle bounces at all it won't work either. Mine started flaking out years ago (odd clicking noise at rolling idle and run-away till disengage). I got the speedometer fixed at VDO service but it still surged and clicked. I eventually just unplugged it and haven't looked back.
