Porsche Crest Trans stuck in gear

[B]Help-PLEASE[B]
I have an AOR, LSD 5 speed -88 944 Turbo S. The transmission is stuck in a forward gear. The selector shaft slides in the 1-2 or 3-4, but will not slide towards the 5th and reverse. Any safe way to unstick it externally or will it require a partial tear-down. Thanks I hope to Gie

linkage woes.

check the linkage under the boot and the linkage at the transmission end. There should be a retaining bolt at the end of the shaft connecting the transmission to the shift tube. There should be a wire on it. From under the car, feel around and see if everything is in order up there. If you have to, unwire the bolt and disconnect the linkage at the tranny end to see if you can manually select the gears.

Is the clutch operating well?

Oh.

Transmission is OUT of the car already! well, that makes it a lot easier to work on! I would contact the person you got the tranny from and ask him what the story is.

I don't have the experience to advise you on transmission rebuild stuff as I have never done it and I don't want to steer you wrong. Sometimes in transit internal linkage can get jammed up. The best I can do is to suggest gentle tapping on the case while moving the linkage. However, as the unit is an unknown quantity, not sure if it worked before transit. Check with the seller and see what he says.

trans stuck in gear

Thanks for the interest SolReaver
I removed both detent nuts from transmision. One on the gear carrier (reverse selector rod) and one from the case, (the selector rshaft detent), then slide the reverse selector rod (the one in the gear carrier) up one detent positoin and now I'm ALL and ALL is
