Thanks.
So are there any cheap solutions for an overhead spring compressor out there or do I need to fabricate one?

No?? i've already used it twice to do my valves.

you don't need to order it off ebay. autozone/pepboys/oreilly's carries those.

By the way krystar, and while i still can cancel, you don't have a 16 valve do you?

naw i got a 8v NA. u got a turbo right? it should be exact same 8valves setup as mine.

while there ARE better valve compressors that are easier to use, that one will do the job. the better ones are a big C shape so u have better leverage. instead of using a screw handle to compress, u use a lever like a pair of pliers.

what u want to do is first put something under the valve, i use a plastic cap from a spray can. put the tool on the coil, then rotate the tool clockwise as far as it will go, you want to get down to the bottom-most coil. then twist the handle until it's fully compressed, then u should be able to get the retainer off with a magnet or a small flathead screwdriver. the plastic cap will keep the valve in place.

Sounds great.
I'll be using compressed air to keep the valves closed.
