torque tube help
Hi, i'm kind of new to this forum and I need some help on my 87 944 NA. I'm doing a clutch job on it and I can't get the torque tube slid back far enough to remove the bellhousing on the engine. I can move the tube all the way back until the hooks hook into the other hooks on the rear torsion bar tube, or whatever it is called, and that is still not far enough for the drive shaft to come out of the bellhousing. I've tried rotating the torque tube 90 degrees, but it stops after about 45. I've also removed the two exhaust brackets just incase they were causing me troubles. Any advice anyone has would be great. Thanks.

Facing transmission end of torque tube pull it back just before the hooks hit torsion tube, then rotate 180 degrees. I think you want to rotate CCW but icant remember. It will only go 180 in one direction. After that you can pull it back enough to get the clearance you need.
It's a pain in the butt, hopes to have a helper rotate from the front with you. Last edited by Techno Duck; 11-22-2009 at 09:37 PM.. |
