Dismantling a Gauge cluster
 

Ok this was requested in another thread but I feel it deserves its own. I didn't take all the gauges apart for this purpose. Only the Speedo/Odometer. Should be all you really need to mess with really.



First get your cluster out of the car per Clarks-Garage.com.
The back of it should look like this.

Remove all the screws with red arrows pointing at them. You should now be able to separate the two halves no problem.

Now you should be able to see the front of all the gauges with no surround.

Pull the speedo needle off by griping it in the yellow areas and pull straight out. Then remove the 2 screws with red arrows.

Now it should look like this.

Remove the four screws.

Now you can turn the gears if you wish to. The gears with red arrows can be turned to adjust the miles. The shaft highlighted with yellow is where your suspect gear to break will be.

Now if your gear is good but your odometer still doesn't work you need to replace the motor that drives the odometer. I just replaced the whole mess under those gears when mine went out.
Pull these 4 screws out of the back and it is good to go.

This is a great write up to submit to Clark's. He has something posted on there that he is looking for pictures. I think he has some of the cluster, but not as many.
