Porsche Crest Advice On Phone Dial Refinish

I have so me Phone Dial wheels that I bought for track use but the finish is tired and faded, with minor curb rash on one of the rims. I was thinking about trying to fix the spot with some sort filler and sand it down. Does anyone know of a filler that would be good to use on rims? Should I have some one fill it by welding it?

My goal it to fix the curb rash, paint gloss black and throw on the good ole Hoosier slicks!

Thanks in advance.

Sand off the high spots and have them powdercoated. Nobody will notice the rash. . .track wheels, right?

There's a product called HTS 2000 which allows you to fill and join aluminum pieces with a propane torch.

Repair aluminum, cast aluminum, pot metal, any leak, crack, hole even thread repair

I've used it with some success and it would probably bond nicely to the PD wheels. Once it sets you can file and sand it into shape.

for my track wheels I just sanded down the minimal curb rash so that it was relativly smooth then used Duplicolor paint for the wheels. They actually came out really nice.

Thanks guys, I think Ill just sand it down a little bit as the curb rash is minor. Then Ill get them painted black and throw my track "crutch" (slicks) on.

I don't think you need to get too fancy here, but you can get them sand blasted. However test the media first, you don't want it too harsh. Then you can paint it with a 2k primer and spray on a base coat and clear coat if you want, the wheels will look great.
