Now here's a really great deal!

87 Porsche 944 Turbo

I know the guy who owns Absolute German - he's into 944's and when he finds one that's rebuildable, he sells them at a good price just to keep them on the road.

This car has problems - the body is not in great shape and it's got 176K miles on it.

But it also has a MAF and some other stuff and that alone is worth probably $1K.

If I had $2.5K, I'd jump on this in a minute as an investment. With a little time and TLC, it could be a great runner.

I live in Covington and I used to work at Delta Marine. I know where that place is. I saw it craigs list. It looks like a good chance. It has fog lights aftermarket parts ect. I'd grab it too if it wasn't Xmas.

That car has been tweaked - quite a bit by the looks of the poor fit of the hood to the nose panel.

Looks more like a parts car than anything else...

I dunno. The guy says it drives well, I'd believe him. Liike I said, I know the guy and he's a straight shooter. His name is Dylan Burns - he's a 944 affectionado.

He runs a wrecking yard for German cars and so happens onto good deals every now and then. In the instances when the car really is only good for parts, he parts it out.

But when a car is rebuildable, he tries to sell them whole to someone who'll restore it.

I see several different colors of body panels and it looks like it probably was involved in a front end wreck. But I'm guessing the frame is okay or he'd be parting it himself - and making a lot more than the $2,500 he's asking for the whole thing.

It really is a good deal.

Heck, yeah. Looks kind of like my car does lately...dents, crinkles from someone that backed into my drivers door, front valence that's been beaten back into shape a few times and quickie re-sprayed with rattle can black, interior not exactly 100%. But at least my hood lines up and nothing has messed up paint.

The misaligned body panels are kind of an eyesore, but they might be fixable. Looks like something that would make a good fixer-upper driver's car for someone not too worried about asthetics, or someone who likes, or can do body and interior work. It's not exactly nice looking, but may be a good builder.

I happened to stop by on saturday to look for a windshield washer tank and saw this car. If I had the time and wasn't expecting a baby I'd consider it. There is nothing there that can't be repaired.
