Painting the door handle (with a twist)

The PO painted it black to match the car, and its peeling/rubbing off and looks like A$$. I've sanded it down and now am ready to repaint it. i was THINKING... maybe it would look cool to paint the recessed PORSCHE letters red, with the handle being black. I thought it might be a cool little accent, especially since I'm in the process of painting all my calipers red anyway.
But how to do it...
After looking online, one method described doing it like this....
Tape all around the PORSCHE lettering and paint the area red. After it dries, use clay or toothpaste on the recessed red lettering and then paint the handle black. Remove the clay or toothpaste and your done. Black handle with red lettering.
Anyone have any experience with this or have any suggestions/recommendations?

Good luck having it last. Our hand are amazingly acidic. Wonder why Brass and stainless steel are used for most door application Durability and resistance to acids and corrosion. I would shy away from painting it or use multiple layers

I personally would just paint the handle normally and then take a really fine paint brush and freehand the lettering in, just be sure to take your time, then clear coat it after.

dip a toothpick in paint instead of using a brush.

Being an artist there is a product we use called liquid frisket It goes on in liquid form the dries and gels up like rubber. You rub it to remove it.
