Red face 1989 Porsche 944 Fuel Injectors???

Can anyone tell me why I am having such a hard time finding a replacement source for my 89 944 fuel injector?

My *dumb* husband was feeling inferior as I was wrenching on my car to replace the fuel injector seals, and decided he needed to help me while I was struggling with one of the hats. Needless to say, while removing the hat he busted the tip of one of my injectors. (he quit helping after that)

I was told that the ones from my 83 944 were the same and that I could just pull it from there. Before I found that was wrong, I had already replaced the seals, re-installed the rail, and now the idle is unstable. (It wont pass smog because it is sporadic) I quickly found out that the injectors are not compatible.

I have since found that these are extremely hard to find. Pelican has told me the only way for them to get it is for it to be ordered direct from the factory which resulted in $358.00 for just ONE injector! There has to be a source that sells used ones out there. I am just not finding it... any help guys would be GREATLY appreciated!

Check 20th St. Auto, they might have one from a junk car. There are other used sources out there too, but the '89 is a bit unusual as it was a 1 model year engine.

I am familiar with the woes of the one-year-only 89 2.7 engine.... I would contact the used parts guys (start with George at 944Ecology.com) to see if they can hook you up.
