Stray, are you a big hockey fan? I couldn't help but notice the USA hockey logo. Hockey is my favorite sport. I've been playing since I was like 7 or something. As far as the NHL goes, I am a Sabres fan (I'm originally from Buffalo).

I'm a huge fan of hockey, only for the past 3-4 years though. My best friend was our high school goalie. Number one in the league. The team was great, wish I would have played, I can do it all but skate well.

Remember the name Brett Kendig and Zach Minjock, they will be in the NHL.

I am a Penguins fan myself, and I love going to my old high school games. In fact, I'm goin to one tonight.

About the USA hockey logo. I have a friend that went to the finals in Colorada and got 3rd, I believe, in the whole country. He is in the Air Force now.

Thumbs up

That's cool. Hockey is a great sport to play, and really isn't as dangerous as people make it out to be. Unforunately for me I moved to Florida in my first year of high school, so I didn't get to play on a good high school team (dad got transfered to better job here). I am a fairly good player, I had pro potential when I was younger, but moving to FL messed that up. The hockey scene here is just developing now (it's only really been here for like 3 or 4 years . In the next few years there will prolly be a lot of kids coming from FL who will make it into the NHL.

..I have played hockey since I was 7......gave up the dream of going pro.....when I played a couple of years in Juniors. Everyone kept growing and I didn't. Although it could have been enhanced with all the juice (roids) that were abundant in Junior Camp......

I grew up following the 70's canadiens.... and then the 80's oilers...... and frankly....I don't think we will see hockey played like that ever again. It was utterly incredible......watching the 80's oilers score over 400 goals in a season over ~5 seasons (454 goals was the highest I believe), thats over 5 goals a game...... This year maybe the first season in about 5 seasons ...that a team may get over 300 goals in the entire season............

.....nice to see hockey fans among the porschephiles.........

Yea, I gave up for real like 2 years ago. I have a few friends who are in junior now. A couple in junior B and one in junior A. They are lucky bastards!

Go Sabres

Happy birthday Rollins. The only good thing about living in Buffalo is the Sabres.

The two names mentioned above are bothin in Junior B. The latter of the two started last year as a sophemore. He is pretty damn good. Tonight he had 2 goals for the high school team and he is on Defense.

Thanks guys. Hey peregrinfalcon, I don't know if I asked you this already or not, but what part of Western NY are you in? I used to live in Williamsville. My first semester of high school was at Williamsville South. I played travel hockey for the Amherst Knights. I liked living in Buffalo. The Sabres are definitely a good reason. When I lived there the Bills were too...I enjoyed the snow though. No snow here in FL.

Did you say that the Panthers play in Miami? My one friend said that they play in Orlando. I'm going to be in Florida from about the 15-23, minus travel time. I am hoping hit the Florida v. Washington game.

They don't play in Orlando. We used to have an IHL team called the Solar Bears, but the IHL closed and the Solar Bears ceased operations. The Panthers play in Miami. If you are looking to be in the Orlando area then you could very easily go to a Tamp Lightning game, Tampa is about an hour and a half from Orlando. Plus the tickets are nice and cheap.

The beach is the best thing you can do, but this time of year is a little cool for that. Ft. Myers is close to Miami though, so you could very easily go there for a game or two.

How close to miami, time wise? What is cold to you? It is cold here, about 20 degrees.

I believe it is only like an hour or so away from Miami. I could be wrong. I am from Western NY so I know what you think is cold. The weather here won't be cold. But it will be too cool to spend too much time at the beach. I would anticipate it being in the 60's. If you're lucky the 70's.

I have been playing hockey since I was seven years old. I love the game so much but about three weeks ago I recieved a cheapshot. I was playing defense since our football players are not yet back from their season. I came out from behind the net carrying the puck and juked a player coming towards me that was forechecking when he stuck he knee out. It clearly was cheapshot, I know this because the team we were playing the previous time we played them one of my players got hurt the same way. He partially tore his ACL and is already back know. I on the otherhand broke my femur. I broke it just about the knee cap. It broke along the growth plate the spiraled up along the bone. I had surgery and they put a 8 inch metal bar in my bone marrow then put four screws in the side of my leg. I am out total for 3 months but only a little over 2 months right now. I will be able to skate towards teh end of the season but no contact. I also have a 1984 Porsche 944. That I also cannot drive. I can't have any pressure on my leg so that sucks. Just thought I would put in my two cents since were talking about Hockey. I also am 2000 AA state champion of indiana. and 2001 AAA 2nd runner up
