Ok, we got a new valve for the head(exhaust one), and had it put on and all... Now the head is on along with most everything else and we're doing the timing belt - after getting the timing belt on with the marks right we were going to turn the crank over by hand via rachet... Well it gets going then just STOPS - bent lifter? It was in cyl. 2 that the exhuast valve WAS bent... Think thta lifter got bent somehow and held is holding that new valve open so that when #2, and #3 pistons are coming up it stops them????????????? WHAT SHOULD WE DO? I'm assuming we gotta go through the agony of taking all that crap off again eh?

HMMM, firing order is 1-3-4-2.... I've never done a 944 valve before, but did you replace the valve guides also? I think that's part of what needs to be done. If you have the engine at TDC, and rotate clockwise... the #2 is the last piston to cycle.

This I know, anyway -
thanks - the head is back off along w/ the cam stuff.... The valve was not stuck open or anything - we've found a scar on the piston wall =(... Updates coming soon. |

ok, now that it's apart, the topend should rotate freely... as well as the bottom half... sounds like you may have a second bent valve... if it's rotating freely, both top and bottom, then is your timing correct? Maybe the marks got confused??

make sure the cam is in the right position when the box is bolted back on. my friend bolted it on while i was installing the header under the car, thus bending a valve
