need info on Bursch headers and test pipe anyone have them?
hey guys I need pictures and some info on Bursch headers and test pipe. I have a picture of the headers but I need to know what the testpipe looks like. I saw a picture of one that i think may connect to the factory exhaust manifold and I am looking for one to bolt straight up to the flange of the headers so i don't have to cut anything. I have a good hookup incase the testpipe doesn't bolt to the manifold and he can weld the headers and a pipe together.
http://www.automobileatlanta.net/act...re=jpeg&-image Here is a picture of the testpipe i saw. It has the downpipes on it and i was wondering if there is one with flanges on both sides as opposed to the downpipes that hook the factory manifolds up. http://www.automobileatlanta.net/act...re=jpeg&-image http://eurospecporsche944.homestead.com/files/sig3.jpg |
Remember that a test pipe is usually the same length as the catalytic converter. The test pipe goes in place of it. If you ever need to switch back to a convertor for smog reasons, you just bolt it up into place. The ic that you have doesn't look like it is a test pipe though. However I could be wrong. Looks like some sort of resonator. If you have bought the full Bursch Exhaust kit, it should have come with everything to mount to the end of the header and work back.

I had the Bursch header on my 924S. It came with a header and a staight pipe. The header and straight fit perfect to the muffler. But if you want to keep using old convertor, you have to add extension to the convertor because it is shorter than the staight pipe.
It is just on my car and may not apply to you. I kept using old convertor and spent $45 for adding extension at a local shop. BTW, haven't seen the thing on your second URL. Don't know what it is. Good luck Eugene |
Eugene where did you get your Bursch header system at??? I am looking everywhere. I saw tweeks sells something called a Bursch "header exhaust". I don't know what it is but it sounds like its the header and testpipe together in a bundle. I will check out some more places today after school.

I am going to order the Bursch Header for my 944 which is in a million pieces due to a couple of bent valves. GPR Parts quoted me $210.00 for the header. Their website shows the test pipe at $199.99. Here is the link:
www.********.com/bursch/bursch.html If anyone knows a cheaper place to get the header, let me know. **********, who is usually cheaper than anyone else, sells the header for $299.00 and the test pipe for $249.00. Hope this helps. |
I got my Bursch Header for $219 at this 800-962-0911 place. I don't think post their name is proper here because of competition. The package had one header and one straight pipe in it. I don't know if that straight pipe is test pipe or not.
I didn't use the straight pipe because, without the convertor, it blowed too much air to my muffler. The exhaust air couse my muffler making rattle noise inside. It did make difference when I first time put header and straight pipe. I could feel the power increase. But I gave up the straight pipe because of muffler rattle. Eugene |
I just got all my exhaust work done, But I highly recommend the bursch header. Heres the deal though becasue you manifold is a two piece manifold (two exhaust port per section) your cat has two flanges on it where the two seperate pieces of the manifold bolt up. When youi get the header you will see that the header comes down way further than the stock manifold. Therefore you are required to use the included straight pipe or cut your cat and weld a single three bolt flange onto the cat. I think the sound and performance are well worth the money. The only suggestion i have is if you buy the header either get the muffler two or get a custom job done. I had a horrible rattle in my stock muffler right after I put my header on. I think its because I may have dropped the muffler and caused a baffle to come loose. I have the bursch header straight pipe and a straight through flowmaster muffler with a free flowing resonator to quiet it down a little it is great I love it it sounds great and the performance is definetaly noticeble. I think I would have noticed it more if I would have done it all at once though and not in stages like I did.

Porsche1984944 I have the Bursch muffler already and ever since it was installed it squeaks too after it heats up! but Where did you get your header/pipe at????? GPR parts has one that says header/pipe and I am wondering if thats it.

I got mine from Tweeks I think but it might have been Performance Products. Which ever was the cheapest of the two. Hope the info helps.

i got a card in the mail today from performance products, 20% off till Dec 5th.... makes a good deal better no?
|
Yea Bob I got the same thing. I don't recall if Performance Products carries the Bursch headers. But I know they have those expensive B&B Triflow ones. I will contact them today when I get home from school. I still would like to find a picture of what headers look like. The only person I know who has em on this board is Craig944 who was banned...there goes my chance of seeing what these damn things look like :(

Hey I will take pictures of the header this weekend. I won't be able to post until sunday though. Just a word of warning the come painted black but the moment you start your car it starts to boil off and doesnt look so great.

where the resonator is, is where the test pipe should be the guy put the resonator in the test pipe which pisses me off but oh well
|
ok thanks a lot man! I was thinking about bolting in and out the catalytic converter on smog days seeing that I live in California and they are extremely strict smog here. Can that be done???
