Heads
Question...will heads from a 1983 944 fit onto a 1986 or are they different in any way? I wanted to know about using Bars Leaks Head Gasket Repair or Head Gasket Fix vice replacing the head gasket...could this be good or just a bandaid? My head gasket is blown and if I don't have to tear into a major evolution like that it would be alright by me but how good is this stuff/

You can never use Bars Leaks or any radiator or block sealer in a 944 series engine. You will cause unrepairable damage when the product(s) are used. No STP!
I have seen pictures of completely clogged oil pickup tubes. NO oil and kiss the crank goodbye. You have to replace the HG. The HG probably has deterioated in many places. You might be able to just need a head refresh and grind at a local machine shop. The valve guides should be replaced if not in spec. Is there a machine shop on base? GL John_AZ |
