84 N/A Leaks oil

Out the front seals. Doesn't burn any even with 380 thousand kilometres on the original motor! The ONLY PO replaced the original clutch last year. Never winter driven. 160 psi compression all the way through. Starts like a crossbow when cold. When it feels like it when warm. Drove to SoCal last July and when it would just spin over and not start, it would fire right up with a push every time. I think it might be the throttle position sensor from reading these posts.
I've found my retirement project. She is truly a devourer of continents. Should I rebuild the engine? Just fix the leaks and do belts? Or just pinch myself and keep driving?

Fix the front main seal leak and while you are at it you might consider doing the 2 balance shaft seals and put a new water pump in there while you are at it. Finish off the job with new belts too. Maybe when cold your crank sensors are a little further from the marks on the flywheel and this might casue your cold start problem.

Throttle position sensor? There is a TPS-throttle position switch on the throttle body.

Speed and Reference sensors maybe?

I agree with zedsn and you should regap the reference sensors and check the cable connections at the top of the rear engine for cracks in the cover protection and bad pins. Clean the big negative ground on the bell housing. Put a piece of tape over the TDC hole so you do not drop a bolt in the clutch!

If you can, clean the magnetic reference sensor pins on the flywheel. If they are covered with grime, the sensors have trouble picking up the signal.

At 380K kilometers you should get a new set of reference sensors. Get a spare DME/fuel pump relay and keep it in the glove box.

The oil pump sleeve gets a groove from the seal and leaks. Replace the sleeve, the seal and the "O" ring. Buy a flywheel lock to make the job easier. If the leak is from the top of the engine, do a complete FOES (front of engine seal) replacement. Get the steel races for the balance shafts if they do not come in the seal kit.

Welcome and GL
