Hello / Introduction
I didn't see a place elsewhere on this forum where people post introductions, and as I will probably be spending 90%+ of my time in the 944 section, thought I'd say hello to fellow 944 owners. SmileWavy
My name is Tony, and I am a long-time 944 addict. I used to post on Rennlist, but got away from that, and most of my internet forum time the past few years has been focused on other cars. I recognize a few users here from Rennlist back in the day -- hello to you all, nice to "see" you here! :) So I'm kind of 'getting back into' the Porsche/944 community after being 'gone' (although owning and driving several more) for a while. I've owned seven total 944s, and have worked as a Porsche tech at a couple of independent shops in the summers. For the sake of making a connection, putting a face to a name, etc., if anyone here has been to 944Fest, I attended the last year it was at the ski slope in Mansfield (with the infamous rides on the 'gator' :D), and a couple of years ago at Nelson's Ledges. I brought a white/burgundy 85.5 with white fuchs. My excuse for not autocrossing the past several years has been old struts, ball joints, and tie rod ends on the 85.5, but I will be rectifying that very soon, so I hope to be at some PCA autocrosses in 2010. I was a NOR PCA member for about ten years, but let that lapse . . . will be renewing my membership in Maumee Valley PCA soon, but also make frequent trips to Cleveland. So if there are any fellow Porsche owners in northern Ohio, please do say hello. :) Best regards, Tony K. |
Welcome to Pelican, Tony!!
I seem to remember your name over on the "Other list". Good luck with getting the car up to snuff and running some AX in '10 :D Post up some pics of the car. Everyone likes pictures ;) Cheers, Keith |

Welcome back Tony...you're not too far from a pretty good crowd of 924/944 enthusiasts up here in SE MI...

Thanks for the welcomes/replies, everyone. :)
Good to hear from you again, Keith! Ernie -- I've actually been to New Brunswick (I don't think many Ohioans can find it on a map...) :D Ideola -- I'd be up for any drives/gatherings in SE Michigan . . . Neil! I thought you were on here, but never saw any of your posts! :D I'm heading down to MB Classic today to *finally* rebuild the front end . . . Parker and Rasta -- Yes, white fuchs = win. From the first time I saw this white/white fuch/burgundy interior car, I badgered its then owner for months until he finally sold it to me. :D Haven't been able to let go of it since . . . Well, I hope I can give some useful contribution to this forum. :) Cheers, Tony K. |

I was at the ski lodge the last year too. I remember the 12 -15 guys piled into the rental SUV doing non-stop burnouts in the gravel, the gator trips up and down the hillside, the resident who thought it would be cool to whip out his rice car with the loud pipes and contribute to noise pollution and the cops. How can we forget the cops. The dyno session was pretty cool. I was one of the last cars to do a pull.
I was trying to get some sleep in my tent as I had a long drive the next day. :) Speedy:) |
