cylinder head pressure relief valve

what is this cylinder head pressure relief valve, and why doesn't my car have one?

is it under something..can't seem to see it...whats it for...

You can't see it until you remove the camtower since it mounts in the head between camtower. Here's an 86 Turbo head. Supposedly it helps prevent drainback of oil from the camtower so your lifters stay pumped up.

You're thinking of the oil pressure relief valve (OPRV) in the block. The OPRV helps control general oil pressure throughout the entire block, the one in the cylinder head deals only with oil supply to the cam, cam journals, lifters, and valve stems.

I think the pressure relief valve is only on the 88 2.7 L and 3.0 L twin cam engines.

You are correct about that being on the 89 2.7L and 3.0L. The 944S 2.5L also has one though. It's actually called a pressure reducing valve in the FSM and is in addition to the anti-drainback valve. I was confused about what his original question was since I couldn't see his drawing at my work computer.
