toggle switch for wipers and ABS help
 

I want to toggle on and off the wipers and ABS. Why? Well I keep hitting the wipers at auto-x and thought a switch would be a better solution then pulling the relay each time. What would be the best way to wire a wiper on/off switch? Same for ABS. I would like to disable ABS for DEs and a toggle and/or reset switch(s) again would seem like a better solution. Anyone have ideas, or better yet done this?

How about pulling the wiper fuse?

Oops, I did mean fuse. I don't know, I thought a toggle switch would be cooler. Plus if I forget to put the fuse back in I could be all wet (probably at worst time because you know Murphy's Law)...

ABS disable or reset is common for track cars, due to problems with rumble strips etc setting a false wheel speed sensor failure. All you need to do is interrupt the power wire to the ABS ECU. This should be clear on a wiring diagram. Then it's your choice, if you put a kill switch on it or if you just use a momentary-off pushbutton switch to reset it. Just make sure, if you use a regular on-off switch, to not put it too close to the steering wheel or anywhere else you'll bump it accidentally! Nothing sucks worse than hammering the brakes and realizing too late, as you flat-spot your expensive track tires, that your ABS got switched off! LOL

When I first started to DE 3 seasons ago, one of the NNJR track chairs who has the identical car to mine told me that I should get my ABS fixed (had a bad pump so was not working).

He explained that not only was it because I would like not flat-spotting tires but that the front/rear brake bias on an ABS car is slightly different than on a Non-ABS car.

I must admit that once I got it fixed the car felt far more settled with heavy braking.

I got a few extra switches and connectors so my install should look stock. Gonna tackle the wiper toggle first. Will 16 gauge be sufficient?
