944 oil cooler
Is there any way to run an additional oil cooler on the NA 944? (if this is stupid it's 'cause I'm new to '44s)

Yes there is. The 944 turbos ran an external oil cooler, and the housing the oil filter screws onto is interchangeable between the two motors. The turbo oil cooler housing has oil line connections and it uses a straight pipe in place of the internal oil/water cooler used in the NA versions. I have no idea if the NA's have radiator mounting or oil line routing provisions that the turbo car might have. Someone else would know the details.

So the basic parts required would be the housing, lines and cooler?

The easiest method is to get a sandwich plate that goes inbetween the oil filter and filter housing. The sandwich plate will have threads for AN fittings and you can plumb an oil cooler off that.
BAT Inc. has pretty much everything you need to get setup, though you can source everything yourself. It might just be easier to go through here though. British American Transfer The 951 cooler will work also, but is more trouble than its worth i think. The stock 951 cooler is not the best either, a new Mocal or Seatrab cooler will be much more effecient and offer more flexible mounting options. Plus you do not have to question what debris made it through the cooler (did the car spin a bearing..etc).
