87 944s timing belt rubbing water pump housing

I replaced all belts and im getting a loud wurring sound.when i inspected the belts i noticed black meterial coming off the belt due to it rubbing against the water pump housing.what`s wrong???

You probably put the crank pulley on backwards, the flange is facing the wrong way forcing the belt onto the pump housing. Better fix that!

Easy fix, the eccentric for the bs tension can be turned both ways, depending on which way you turn the pulley, it can make the belt turn either towards the waterpump housing or away. You turned it towards the water pump. You need to turn it the other way.
