I want to start by saying that I am not exactly "joe mechanic" ..........I have a working knowledge of engines that rivals your average Victoria Secret model.....kidding, and no insult to all you fine models reading this......but needless to say I am no grease monkey......ok that said I have a problem:
I went out to my beautiful black '87 944 the other day in hopes of a splendid and horrifyingly fast Sunday ride through the country.........well much to my dismay while depressing the clutch pedal I felt no reponse and the spring assist left it to the floor, I can manually bring the pedal back up, but alas the clutch is inoperable, the engine starts and the fliud levels are fine........Is it my master cylinder? Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas or experiences would be most appreciated, Thanks, Clay

most likely your clutch slave cylinder, but replace the clutch master with it, as it is likely to go next.
