Dash lights

I bought a led strip (white) positioned it behind the the bezel and small deflector...stuck it to the end of the light pipes from end to end of the gauge assy made a small notch for the wires and reassembled the bezel...

I tapped off the wires that goes to the vent icon and while i was at it replace the bulb with a blue LED with resistor.

LOOKS AWESOME!! really bright! dimmer does work too , allthough I may have to use a resistor to drop the voltage so it isn't so bright.

Here are photos of my dash as seen from outside

i am just thinking I'd like to have it adjustable from black/black look with lettering to grayish look...
i thinking about a resistor with two way toggle (using a stock type switch for low/high dash illumination... maybe a second switch to turn off all leds for stock look .

I definitely think it looks good. modernizes the back end a bit. How easy was the install? probably needed some drilling ?

I had gotten several center light assy's.... the first one came was chipped in the mail (Seller had used two 8x10 manila envelopes and mailed (IDIOT)!! The second one was fine but like the first it was red with black letters and totally lit from behind. I used the chipped one as a template drilling through the rear mount holes to the front so I could place it in place of the license plate area and just drill straight through to have my holes exact. I then found this one that I used that was red with subliminal lettering until illuminated.

Worked easy!!! I removed the license plate lamps... and wired the light to the spot where they were.. after mounting the lens i got black silicone rubber to seal it like the factory tail lights... and then mounted the license plate to the bumper with a vw dune buggy black plastic illuminated license plate frame.

It may be custom b/c of things you've done but the S2s were more common as Cabs than coupes....
