Rear Hatach again !!

Hi been haveing problems with my hatch ,the catches do release and are working properly

But sometimes the hatch sticks and wont open ,especially if u dont openit very often

Have come to the conclusion that the gas struts are weak even though they hold the tailgate up no problem they dont push the tailgate up and out of the locks

What i would like to know is,is the tailgate suppose to rise itself once you operate the catch? or even if its suppose to relase itself a few inchs or so out of the catches?

Many thanks Mark

it just pops open a little, then you raise it, and hopefully it stays up.. next time, lube the lock piecs and see if that helps. it may not release the latch fully if dirty. I stick a screwdriver between the body and window frame, which pops it open when i hit the button

Over time the latches get full of dirt and the lube that is used gets stiff and will prevent the latches from functioning properly. Take the latches apart and clean the inside of old grease and use white lithium lube. They will have to be realigned with the pins and should be worry free for quite a while. My hatch does not pop up using the switch and I have cleaned the latches. The hatch struts are strong and keeps it up. I always just use my key and lift.

Cheers,
Larry
