Do brake pad sensors go when the pads go???

I just had my front pads replaced and it seems like when the pads wear down enough, the sensor is ruined along with the pads - is this the case, or was it just because the pads were worn wayyyy down??

I know changing the sensor doesn't involve taking the pads off again (or does it? - looks like the sensor can just clip on already installed pads), but does anyone know what these sensors usually cost??

Yes, if you go too far on the pads before replacing, the sensors get worn off. They have them right here on Pelican.

Thanks Bob!!

Here I was thinking those sensors were gonna run me some cool cash. I have been somewhat impressed by parts prices so far, but then again, I haven't gotten into the "big" stuff yet!!!

I just bought PBR Racing pads at a local parts place (not even a Euro place) and they ran me only $25 Canadian (entire set). My thermovalve switch was only $13 Canadian and I ordered spark plug wires thru these same guys and they cost $100 Canadian and that is all four wires!!! I don't know where this place is getting the parts, but I'm not about to start questioning them!!

......and I have an "S" (I've noticed a 30% higher price for "S" parts compared to 944N/A or Turbo).

the sensors i got from vertex were $12/pair for the fronts. would have purchased from pelican but the german oem rotors & pads from vertex were more competitively priced.

double posted... read the next one....

thats how u do it.... go figure....

Boyee.. who are u ordering your stuff through......???

I find it hard to find anything remotely low priced around Edmonton....... I end up ordering through the states and even with duty and brokerage fees it still comes out cheaper (the pricey stuff anyways).........

....uhmm just wait till you have to buy the clutch......thats a cheap one..... or redoing your head gasket.....

Blackfoot: how much did your pads end up costing.....? need to order pads as well

Blackfoot 11-23-2001 08:13 PM

ae, the pads were jurid and were i think $54/pair front.

ae1969, I'm getting my parts at this place called "Wilson's All Make" here in Halifax. We have a place called Halifax Motorsports, which is a place that does performance work on street cars - one of the service guys was on a Porsche race pit crew when he was a younger German fella - I get him to do the work.

Also, there is a place in Montreal called "Whaletail" - they ship all over Canada and they have really, really good prices also. I'm not sure of their website, but just do a search and put in "Canada Porsche parts". If you put in "whaletail", it won't find it for some reason.
