ebay white face

Does anybody know what is up with these guages? I have emailed the people selling them and they told me $70 bucks outright, private sale. Cool I said, but when I asked will I be getting the proper set of guages ( if u notice they are missing the mpg guage for the 85.5 and up n/a ) they never got back to me. They continue to sell with the same crap story about a previous owner swapping guages. Has anyone bought these and what do u do about the mpg guage on the tach?

I bought a set from them for my 84' 944 and the mpg was on the tach. They look nice but the metal is kinda cheesy. I had to trim the speedo one to fit, good thing the metal is cheesy. Other than that- they good and look nice.

to bad those gauges won't fit my 924S. my rpm gauge goes starts from teh right side and goes down and around to the left with redline being on the left side, instead of the traditional way. do they make them for the 924S?

They do sell 'em for the 924S/early 944. I bought some last week, haven't seen em yet. Do a search for 924S gauges.

You know what get's me is if you read the buyers feedback and see what faces they bought, the guys that have 911's usually pay around 19.99 a set with only one or two bids, but 944 owners bid up to around 70 bucks for theirs with several bids (don't to many people bid at one time, these guys are always on E-Bay so limit your bids and we all can get them cheep ).LOL

No I don't have any pictures yet. I just did it, give me a week.
I think it looks really good. I even painted those ugly yellow needles- reddish orange.

The gauges I have I bought off of ebay from the seller in the first post. I looked at all his gauge faces and the only set that looked to be correct for my 84- 944 was the 924 set. I even have the faces for the clock and oil pressure gauge with the set but haven't installed them yet.
When I got the faces, I knew that those old yellow needles had to go. I just went to the store, matched the orange on the face plate and bought some good spray paint. I wiped the needles down real good with lacquer thinner and put on a thin coat of paint.
Since I had the gauges out and I hated that silver color they put on the benzel, I wanted to do something with it and the dash kits were so much jingle- $200- $400 for basicly stickers. So I went out and bought this Textured paint, called: American Accents stone creations, by Rust oleum for $5. went home lightly sanded the benzel, wiped clean with lacquer thinner, taped the black areas off and painted. I think it came out ok- for $5 and a little time.

Hey, I bought the same ones--I installed the oil pressure and clock ones first. How'd you get your gauges out? If I try to remove the whole cluster, it gets hung up on the steering column (yes, I took the plastic pieces off). I can reach the back of the combo gauge from under the dash but I can't push on it hard enough to get it out. Any suggestions?

PS I used a red Sharpie on the needles, blue on the bulbs, and black on the bezels, at the suggestion of a friend that works at a speedo shop. I thought it'd be kinda cheesy, but it actually looks great. Total cost of materials $2.49.

On the front of the fascia I used regular old acrylic hobby paint, dark grey. It looks great but it's kind of a tacky/rough finish, I'm looking for something else.

You have to remove the Steering Wheel to pull the benzel.
what are you talking about- " black and yellow lights" ?????
all the back lit lights are clear and when I had the gauges out, I painted the inside shell white, they were turning yellowish.

Ooooh I got you now. It's really not that noticeable- to me any way. I don't know if anyone makes new/different lenses for that.
I haven't seen any any ways. As I'm looking at them. the black part goes ok, but the yellow print doesn't. I don't know if you took them out if some one could like screen print the symbols a different color like white or orange.
