Speed and reference sensor output
I have seen it before but my searching "foo" is lacking today. I am looking for all info on the output signal from the speed and reference sensors. I have seen / read it here some place.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I am in the process of installing a MS2 V3.0 in my car and will be using my custom cam fired EDIS system. BUT I would like to finally once and for all make MS a plug and play deal for our cars. It seems that everyone that starts to get it done gets side tracked. The biggest one was the microsquirt thread posted a while back. It seemed Justin got it all done except for this. Thread here It can not be that difficult. If I understand it (and my electronic skills are not all that great) you get a signal that pulse in time to the speed. as the speed increases the pulse speed up BUT with the VR sensors the voltage also goes up causing the MS to loose track of the signal. In other words the pulse pattern gets drowned out by the voltage increase. I would really like to see some technical information on what the speed and reference sensors send back to the DME (relative to the change in engine speed) With this I think I can come up with a simple solution to either conditioning the signal or just using it to create a new one that the MS can then use to know the RPM and the reference. I see it as a simple plug in circuit or card. I tend to oversimplify these things but that is me. Why has this not been done? What don't I know / understand that makes this seem to be a huge stumbling point to our cars being easily converted to MS |

I have traced the circus back to and into the DME and they both go to the same area in the DME board. I now Need to have an electrical engineer look at that circuit and see if they can make sense of it.
I also am looking for technical information on the sensors them self. What is the input and what is the output over the RPM range would be very helpful. I got the test procedure from the shop manual. It is helpful but does not tel us what the output is when the car is actually running. It only look at what it does when it is cranking. I am wondering if I can back probe the connections with the car running. I am not on the hunt for a simple oscilloscope. I wonder f my digital meter can sense the voltage with it running? Anyway it is a start. |
