Well here I sit waiting on a tow truck. :(
Went to leave work and she tried to start but failed. Jumpered DME relay and no fuel pump noise. ( impossible to miss this noisey thing) I do have 12V at fuel pump connector. I am assuming new/bad pump right now. I put an e-bay fuel pump in 2/ 3 weeks ago. So much for flea-bay. At least I still have the original one. solreaver: I had checked most connectors i could find. I figured worst case i could resale them dme, or better yet had a spare since the S ones are harder to find. |
Oh no! I was hoping you had finally tracked the problem down and this thread would disappear into the night...
Good luck with the fuel pump, I hope it's the last piece to the puzzle that is the 944. |
Put the original fuel pump back in yesterday. Fired right up. Drove to work this morning wth zero issues. Now to see if I drive home LOL

Well she reared her ugly head again. Died on me last Friday at a red light in TRAFFIC. Got it out of the road and a few minutes later started up and ran great.
Put a fuel gauge on the fuel rail from LR and reads ~50PSI with the DME relay jumpered and the aboutthe same at idle. All good according to Clark's. It is definately a fuel problem. I can unplug the coil and I wou't get any thing at all except started spinning the motor. With coil plugged in it will fire and run for about 1 second then die. I have looked at, cleaned the MAF and every connector I could get to. Not sure what some of them were even. I read somewheere on here, that I can't find again, about an ignition module ( name?) that is located near the cruise control? Any thoughts? I do not have the chance to rewire it till July when my garage will be empty again. ( have a car we bought with a bad head that is being fixed to sell in there right now) Going to look at grounds again and maybe just replacing the battery cables. They seem to be original anyways. It runs great 98% of the time, its that last 2% thats killing me. |
Same exact problem I had a few years back...would just die while driving...ended up being the computer...have you swapped out a good running computer to see if it still happens..see if your mechanic or somebody will loan you one to put in and see if it still happpens..

the ignition switch is located behind where you put your key in...at least in the 87 and up
|
Yep, did a different DME. Thought that fixed it at one point.
