83 vs 84 block

Is it possible to swap an engine from an 83 (manual steering) to an 84 (power steering)?

Are the blocks the same? Is there a way to attach a power steering pump to the block on the 83 engine?

Thanks

The blocks should be the same. You have to swap out the housing that holds the seal for the lower balance shaft. That housing is what has the provisions for the power steering pump mounting. If you need one of those housings send me a PM, I have an extra.

Shouldn't be too hard to swap.... That manual rack is worth a pretty penny too....

You may have a problem with the crankshaft length. On the very early 83 engines, they used a crankshaft that was about a quarter inch shorter, and the power steering pulley will wobble. Details are in the PET, engine section.
