Is the car you're daily driver? how soon do you need it by. For 850-1500$ you can get one that is rebuilt or have it rebuilt.

I've got my old non-LSD transmission out of my '86 Turbo. First gear is noisy, but it doesn't show any problems like metal in the oil or things like that.

I'd be willing to let it go cheaply given the noisy 1st gear and the fact that it has 160,000 miles on it, but it might be a little tall for your 944 NA. Still, if you're interested it's just sitting in my garage gathering dust.

Well Don't count on me do pull through but, there are 2 late style 944's with manual trans still in it but im not sure as to there condition as it's sometimes hard to tell why the cars get there some times. but if memory serve me correctly the lower front end was crashed into and the aluminum a-arm busted so posibly bad driving is the cause.... the second is black and i dont remember what i decided was the reason for it being there. Both trans from what i remember shifted in gear well and were still tight unlike my car. I have to go back there in a few days and buy e-brake hardware as mine was completly striped and ill let you know about the trans.

Regards
J

If you look here, the "Transmission Ratios" link is a spreadsheet that can be used to determine the differences between the Turbo and the NA transaxles. It was initially built for the 924, but also has the information for the 944 NA/S/S2 and 951 transaxles as well.

Not sure what sort of difference there would be in street driving though since I haven't tried it on the ol' butt dyno.

Nothing wrong with eBay, just communicate with the seller first and double-check that they'll ship to Canada for you.

You could also try Rennlist; there is usually someone over there with a transaxle for sale. That's how I picked up the LSD transaxle for my 951.

also; does anyone know book time in install for the job of swapping out transaxle. I'm not doing the work and want to make sure the shop isn't going to lead me down the garden path!
