Door window motor replacement..
Hi there,
it's a long time since my last post...but I'm always connected..and always working on my car: - all belts and pulleys have been replaced - power steering rebuilt with replacement of the rack - sport seats renewed + back seats (with a very very nice result!) - oil and filter - gas filter - general interior cleaning (on going) and I'm approaching ... motor window replacement (driver side). About this point, I have some difficults. The motor is linked to the window mechanism by means of 3 screws: 2 hex head - very easy to remove 1 counterunk screw - my problem... I'm not able to uncrew it...and to be honest I'm thinking about removing the whole mechanism (not a bad idea to clean and grease again all the parts). BUT... how to? I can't find on the manuals any tutorial any idea from you? Or diod I miss the page on the manual??

To remove the complete cross arm assembly, including the motor, there are several screws on the main body itself to remove - bear with me as it has been several years since I last removed one. I think I remember 7 screws on the main body of the cross arm. the cross arm will then come out complete with motor. Be very careful when removing the cross arm assembly as the button rollers on the ends of the arms can be a little fragile where they are in the bottom window lifting track. If one of the button rollers is loose or wobbly, or if the button roller on the end will not stay in place replace it while it is out - otherwise you will have to go back in to do it later
Upon re-assembly there is a window glass alignment necessary for the glass to track successfully - Upon re-assembly do not fully torque the 7 or so screws on the cross arm assembly, just finger tight for now. Raise the window all the way up with the window switch/button, and if all looks good then tighten all screws. If the window then tracks rightly after several ups and downs call it good - if not repeat until window tracks straight. Have pfunn - P.S. the 7 screws could be many, forgot the count, take out screws all over it until it is free to remove - and they are all over it. Remember where each screw goes as upon reassembly the different screws will go back the way they came out.

Hello and thanks.
Just came back from the garage, and still in doubt. I mean: do I have to remove the glass before? I ask you this because after unscrewing 3 screws the glass became loose , going down (altough for just 4-5 centimeters) - it was stuck in closed position.Another doubt: the mechanism with the arms etc.. looks very big, I wonder once unscrewed where is the "exit point" from the bare door?? And about the glass itself: how to fix it in order not to let it down while I dismount the asssembly ? thanks for help!!! ![]() ps. I will try to post some pic next time |

Glass does not have to come out - I always left mine in.
While the cross arm assembly is being removed just hold the glass in position with other hand - turn the window cross arm assembly until it is free of inside the door - it will come out of what looks to be to small of an opening. The glass will now be loose inside of the door so upon re-assembly it will have to be realigned in the vertical side tracks. Do not remove the bottom lifting track that is attached to the glass itself - or it will have to be re-attached with a type of butyl ribber cement and felts.
