A/C Compressor Removal "Issue" - Help!

Trying to unbolt the A/C compressor on my 85.5...and I find this strange problem - the front pivot-bolt's threads have a glob of what looks like solder, out beyond the nut on the free end - which I'd thought would be simple to just knock off with a punch, but nothing doing - this is a hard piece of metal!

First question: what is this glob doing there in the first place? Why would anyone have wanted to prevent the removal of the A/C compressor?

Second question: should I just try banging the solder lump a little harder? Or should I try torching it off? Again, this is a very hard piece of metal - feels a bit more like welding rod than solder, and I'd like to avoid thread damage. The nut on this bolt does come loose - but stops hard at the lump of solder. Kind of a difficult to reach place also.

I'm wanting to dismount the compressor and hang it out of the way so I can drop the engine. The compressor pivot holes are common to the plate which also features the pivot holes for the alternator (which I have already removed). Seems like I could simply remove this plate - but the front engine lifting-eye is also mounted to this plate. Any suggestions related to this possibility? Thanks!

it's probably not solder, it's probably JB Weld being used as thread lock, or some other type of thread lock.
I'm note sure is torching would do any good, but it's maybe worth a try, just be very careful with open flames around the motor

Dremel. Simple.
