83 n/a no spark
 

Hello, I have a 1983 944 N/a with no spark, I have checked Dme relay. Possibly alarm module? How do you jump the alarm system? and also dme has some corrosion is it possible the main DME not the relay has gone bad? would that lead to no spark?

Hey buddy, lots of DME info here, just search the forum for it. Also check out Clarks Garage, good info there as well. There are current flow diagrams for your car on this website. IMHO, check them out and trace the circuit power one way or the other. Check power to the coil and DME Relay. It doesn't hurt to clean the fuses and check the grounds. There is a real PITA ground at the bell housing. follow the ground from the battery to where it disappears behind the engine.

For no spark conditions it is a good idea to go over connections as well. I suggest checking the speed and ref sensor connections as they go a lot and will cause intermittent or no spark. Viel Gluk.

Electrical may be a PITA, but it is not overly complicated. Like SolReaver says, go through your connections. A $20 multimeter and a wiring diagram are all you need, the rest is just time and effort. Almost as simple as paint, and less of an art form.

When I said PITA, I was referring to the ground connection that is hard to get to. Troubleshooting the electrical is fairly straightforward, a good meter, test light and the diagrams will get you through most difficulties. Paint is an art form as it takes a good touch to get a nice even coat and prep work can be really time consuming.

I say electrical on a car is PITA lol. Much harder than a motorcycle where all I have to do is remove the tank and seat. But still not complicated, just chasing wires.
