Anyone have a B&B exhaust on their 944 Turbo?

If so, how does it sound?

I know that they sound excellent on other cars but I'm yet to hear one on a 944.

I've heard that just about everyone of the B+B's for the 951 cracks. There is a fix you can do to prevent it though.

Is there a direct fit bolt-on for the S2 model, or did you have to custom fit something together?

Was it a cat-back exhaust... or just the muffler? What size? Three inch?

If you don't mind my asking, how much?

What are the performance gains?

Thanks.

Jim

Yes B&B has a direct fit to an S2, mine is a 90S2 also, piece of cake to install. It is a catback, wouldn't want to use test pipe. I understand they are much louder and not much more gain on a NA. The B&B has a nice sound wouldn't want it any louder, maybe a little-little bit quiter, but I am 55yrs old. It is 3 or 3 1/2" with a slant cut. They have a web page, I believe B&B.com, not sure anymore. Around $800. They say about 15 HP, hard to tell. Feels good, sounds good feels faster, but I also have a chip, Cams, and a 6x14" K&N filter.

Thanks. I'll check out their website.

Given that you are in CT, maybe someday I'll get a chance to meet you and see your car, and hear the exhaust. Are you a PCA member, and do you usually attend any of their events?

Thanks.

Jim

Yes I am a PCA member, but I don't get to go to many events. Did make the last autocross in Oct. It would be hard to hear the car now anyway as it is up on blocks with the trans and clutch out.

I have the B&B Carbon Fibre Cat Back on my '87 951. I love the sound. It is a straight thru design, so I thought it would be quite loud and sound rice. Not at all. At idle, it has a very distinct low grumble, and in full boost, it just screams.

Overall, it is not that much louder than stock. 70 on the highway and it sounds just as quiet as stock. There is no resonance at any RPM.

Performance.. not sure. Perhaps a little more torque. Truly a nice peice (and it weighs 15lbs!) It has a massive 4 1/2 oval tip on it, that fits in just right. Out of the car, I thought it was too big.

It is a bit more expensive than the normal Tri-Flow from them, but worth it.

I will be punching out the cat, (unless I can get a high flow one for a decent price) so a noise increase will be expected.
