Series 1 speedo cable set-up
WTF? I wanted to change the brake shields on my early car, and I had a hell of a time getting the grease cap off the rotor... the speedo calibration guy that worked on my car a year ago had to do some tinkering to make it work right. I wish I woulda run instead of stayin at his shop when I heard that. He ran the speedo cable through the grease cap and siliconed in place.
Anyone got pics of the correct setup for the speedo cable on an early car? I have to fix the mess to move on...

Its supposed to run through the grease cap, it is normally held in place by an e-clip however.

The mech that worked on the car must have broken the clip because he used wire and some kind of hardened red silicone compound to hold it in place. I couldn't even see the tip of the cable til I stripped all the red stuff off. Cleaning the mess, 35 minutes, total job 1 hour... Plus the time it took to find an e clip the right size. All is right again...
