front engine seals to replace at belt change?
 

Just had the rear main seal redone and it was dry as toast and leaking bad. I'm going to be doing the timing belt stuff soon and wonder if I should just do all the seals in there. None are leaking now, but man it would suck to have to get back in there.

Any ideas which I sould consider or should I leave alone what is not broke. I could get lucky and someone may have done them before, guess I'll see.

86 944, how many miles are on the car? If there is no service record indicating the seals were replaced I would change them based on years alone.

Trying to understand the first paragraph.
You hired someone to replace the RMS (rear main seal)??

Did you do any other repair on the clutch while the clutch was torn apart.

OK, I was just curious.

Timing belts do not require the front crank bolt to be removed. Timing belts are a 1 hour job----even if you had someone do it for you.

When you need to replace the WP----then do the front seals.
To get to the WP you remove the crank bolt and all belt covers.
Then....
Replace all front of engine seals.
Replace the oil pump sleeve if it has a groove from the seal.
Replace the cam gear bolt to the new upgraded one.
Replace the belt rollers if they have never been changed. The old ones got brittle and self destructed.

Sooo, unless the WP is over 60K miles, no need to do the seals until you do the WP.
