Undercarrige damage
I'm back to work on the 88' 944 curb surfer. The shocks and struts came this week, so i'm ready to tear into it Sunday. One problem is I loaned (joke) my spring compressor's to my boss, and never got them back. I guess i'm renting some. Anyway, anybody have advice or tips on making the strut install easy? Tech info? I also need to adjust caster/ camber and alignment. Thanks.

You could go to HarborFreight and get a spring compressor and send the bill to accounts payable -$9.99
After doing it multiple times on my cars, I do not use the spring compressor. It may be different on the '88 944. There is spring tension but I am able to compress the front springs and get the top on. Caution-dangerous Now on the alignment. When you remove front struts ----mark the strut on the steering knuckle with a can of white paint and a steel scribe first before you take them off. Here are a couple of DIY home alignment posts that will get you close enough to get to a shop. EDIT: This is the one I use from the Tech Section above ^^: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/home_toe_in/home_toe_in.htm Wheel Alignment A Short Course Modification Notes For your truck.. Thanks, John!
That helps, not the accounts rec part, but the paint and scribe bit. Carefree highway huh? I used to tear up the desert out that way pretty good back in the 80's. Now I tread lightly here in Colorado. Thanks again.
