Strut Tops
Anybody know if its possible to replace just the bearings on the strut tops ? anybody tried this or have a spare pair to see if it possible ?
If not whats the best solution for worn ones , i suppose genuine rubber porsche tops are an extorsionate price .Anybody tried solid ones on a road car? Thanks Mark |

Depends on the year of the car. 924s and early 944s - no problem.

For that car they are only $400 each.
I had the same issue and went with the KLA solid mounts ($200/pair). They are fine for a street car... just take it slow over low speed bumps. |

Only $400 each ! ! local porsche dealer in uk want £260 delivered each ,Extosionate! most cars are about £40/50 .Whats so special about the the porsche ones?
Anyway i think the KLA ones are the way to go At £190 the pair in uk cheaper again if i import from states I just wondered without stripping the car wheather its possible to replace just the bearing on the original strut tops .Do they have a spherical bearing or just an ordinary sealed bearing? Anbody know ,anybody got any pics or one handy to have a look at .New bearing would only cost a couple of quid ! Thanks Mark |

It is a sealed bearing and it is bonded to the rubber. I do not believe there is any way to change it out.

As in another post though the bearing isnt bonded to rubber ,the bearing carrier is bonded to rubber then the bearing a press fit in that
With out stripping the car i cant see if its possible .Also the same post mentions that the bearing were a porsche batch and u cant get them .Cant believe that though Porsche should of made them with a replacable bearing ,would of been easy enough As for the KLA tops have heard that the bearings dont last ,can people that have fitted them confirm this ? Thanks again Mark |
