83' Automatic Cat Issue
 

When I run highway speeds the shift tunnel gets toasty. I presume the Converter is what is warming the tunnel? Do I replace the Cat? Do the aftermarket ones run as hot? The car just passed inspection so it is a nuisance problem right now.:confused:

My '88 automatic gets pretty hot around the shifter. My car has done this since it was new so it's possible that a new cat won't cure it - it may be the norm.
