Angry Squeeky Sunroof latch

I turned off my radio the other day ( does not happen that often) to listen to the "sounds of my car".....what I heard was the passenger side front sunroof latch squeeking!

It's a 1984 NA and I was wondering if this is an indicator that the seal is worn out, or if the latch just needs to be tightend....if I put my hand on it ...it stops!

thanks!

Same thing happens to me! Mine is an 84' aswell and I find that if I smack it (kind of like how I have to smack my dash to wake the tach up) it goes away for awhile. My sunroof is broke at the moment, but this summer I'm going to have it fixed, then I'll probably try installing a new seal to see if that helps, I think it should...

Best of luck!

I also have a 1984 944 NA, and my right side sunroof squeeks when it is cold out. The only thing that seems to stop my is leting the heater warm up the inside of the car for a while on cold days. I also did notice it as I usually have the stereo cranked up.

Gixer,
Sorry to say but it sounds like your hatch glass is de-laminating (falling off) the hatch frame. It's a common 924/944/968 problem.

The glue from the 80's simply wasn't strong enough/advanced enough for this purpose. I'm not sure how much it costs to have it resealed, but any local glass shop should be able to do it. I've read about some glass places saying that the owner has to pay for the glass if the glass shop breaks it...I'd try to make sure the glass place will take all responsibility for damages.
