Backwards Fuel Filter

Been chasing down an engine dying condition. I had a fuel filter to put in (which I had yet to do.) Turns out the old one was in backwards! It has been in the car a long time most of it not running. After double checking to make sure I had the correct direction of fuel flow I installed the new one correctly. Also cleaned the fuel pump connections. They were surprisingly clean.
Needless to say, I drove the car for over an hour tonight and no stalls!
I would have bet a lot it was electrical because of the way it instantly died.
I'll find out later in the week as I drive it if that was really the problem.
Supposed to rain a little and now that I have the 944 running I'm a little more of a pansie about riding the Yamaha XS1100 in the rain. My other '80's project.

My kids say my hair matches the color of the car! Who's getting old?

I miss my old 79 xs1100, but it just wore out all over. Now i get by with a cb750 F, and an 80 xs850G

Hey those are two great bikes. I've not owned one, but I always thought the cb900 custom looked like a great bike too. A guy I work with has one and he loves it.

BTW, I drove the 944 for a while tonight and it appears the backwards fuel filter was the problem. Unbelievable!
