start with it stripped, or rip it apart

I'm looking to start a race/track 944 project. Do I start with a stripped, junk, project car or do I go for a good condition running car? I mean, it depends on what I can sell the parts of a running car for? Do stock 944 parts sell for a decent price or is there even a market for them?

bp944,

You are a busy man! First a project of LS engine into your turbo:
replacing torque tube.

Now a race/track 944 project.
The answer can be found if you lurk on the Pelican track forum:
Porsche Autocross and Track Racing - Pelican Parts Technical BBS

Selling parts for a profit will be difficult. You are in competition with eBay and the Parts forum on Pelican where a lot of members sell for a low price and shipping.
944 rollers and parts cars are very common.
Many members prefer to go with a known reseller like 944 Ecology Porsche Parts or similiar.

GL
John

Go for a good runner with blems, like a bad interior or minor body damage, or even a busted timing belt. You do NOT want to chase electrical and other "beater" problems on your race car, believe me.

I'd rather buy one complete... I didn't... But the price was too good to refuse.... Now I have a confusing mountain of parts and no time to reassemble....

944 can be had for cheap. Buy a running one and strip it down. I wouldnt rely on selling parts for profit. Sell you parts just dont rely on the money to keep your project going.
