should be 4-5 bars on the gauge normally while driving. hot idle should be no lower than 2.5.

the light comes on at 0.5bars if i remember correctly from my last blown engine. it REALLY shouldn't come on at all.

it might just be a bad electrical connection. the sensor is on the front pass side of the engine. under the oil filter area. you'll see two wires with quick detach connectors. take one off, clean up the contact and put it back on. repeat with other wire.

Hi Harry, Yesterday was 101* here in middle Ga.. I use Brad Penn 20W-50 in my 85.5 na and have not had a problem with the oil pressure. Now that I've said that I'll probably start having problems. Just keep all electrical connections and grounds clean. Bad grounds on these cars will give you nightmares trying to run something down.

Cheers,
Larry

+1^^

What year car do you have?

It could be the OPRV and should be checked and 2 new "O" rings and aluminum crush washer to prevent drips.

Put in a new oil pressure sender and crush washer. My idle flickering stopped. Be careful of the 2 wire posts on the switch. They are hollow and snap off easy. OEM or aftermarket work about the same---just cost less.

You are using a Mahle or K&N oil filter and not a Fram or cheap store brand-----right?

GL
John

Hi guy's
she is an 85.5 140,000km I use 15w50 mobil one which is hard to get hold of here 20w50 in synthetic is none existent here and i have never considerd going regular oil. The oil filters since 1999, when i found the old girl have been porshe o.e as they are almost the same cost as aftermarket. Is the OPRV adjustable or a replacement required? the switch was replaced in an effort to rectify the condition. Of course I should also check all the grounds as this is something we rarely think about and i'm going to feel silly in the head if i find thats the problem. lol
Thanks again.
H.

OPRV

Remove and replace the 2 "O" rings and crush washer.

yes. but if the oil cooler assembly moves out of alignment, you'll need the special alignment tool to get it back. the tolerance is very tight on alignment
