Brembo Caliper

Any body know if the brembo calipers fitted to the 3 lt S2 1989 cars are the same as those fitted to the turbo cars?

Also do the front and rear brembo calipers use the same size pistons? the pads are the same

Thanks Mark

Depends on how you look at it. The S2 non-M030 has the same calipers front and rear as the 87 - 88 951 and non-M030 968. The 86 951 front calipers are the same size caliper and take the same pad but had different piston sizing i.e. the large piston is a 38 mm as opposed to the 87 on having a 40 mm piston. Another difference of the 86 951 calipers is the rasied lettering on the side and the pistons had scrapper rings instead of the dust boots of the later calipers. But 86 - 91 951 and S2 use the same pads. The S2 M030 had the same calipers front and rear as the 951S and the 968 M030.

Ooops, missed a part of your question.....

The pistons sizes for the 87 - 91 951(not S), S2 (non-M030) and 968 (non-M030) are:

Front 40 mm & 36 mm

Rear 30 mm & 28 mm

The pistons sizes for the 88 - 89 951S, S2 M030 and 968 M030 are:

Front 44 mm & 36 mm

Rear 30 mm & 28 mm

Master cylinders stayed the same size for all.

Ok thanks measured one of the small pistons and they are 36mm as the dust sheild was shagged .Cant measure the big ones as the dust seals wer good and didnt want to destroy one of them

Anyway ordered a kit from Bigred consisting of 36 /40mm
