Older Blaupunkt Amps

I'm trying to install a Blaupunkt Miami Beach 148 CD-Player in my 86 944. My car did not come with a factory amp and i'm trying to track down one of the mini-amps (built in?) that would have originally come with the cd player so I don't have to mount one in my car. Any ideas where to find something like this, or another way to make the cd player work without mounting a large amp anywhere in the car?

That unit has built-in amplification: Blaupunkt Miami Beach CD148 Radio from Continental Imports

The installation center told me it wouldn't work in my car because i didn't have an amp and the radio needed some kind of small amp that used to come with the head units of this vintage? Now i'm confused...

If you want a little more power out of the OEM Blaupunkt stereo add the Blaupunkt Equalizer Amplifier BEA 80, good for another 20w. per...+ they sound good, and all of the plugs work with OEM radio - plug & play.

Your radio shop knows nothing about Blaupunkt if they said that ...

So this head unit should just plug and play in my car?

Well, you'll have some wiring todo unless you happen to have a conversion harness (from factory Porsche wiring to Blau). But the head unit has built-in power, and doesn't require an amp. I agree the Blau powered EQ would be a cool addition if you'd like, very German and period-correct

If it's the original type German made for German cars it will plug & play. Allot of the newer models of Blaupunkt are made in Japan for universal fit, these you have to wire up.

Could a Blaupunkt BEA 80 be wired to work with the newer (made in 1998?) Blau Miami Beach head unit??
