Question Clutch depresses intermittently

About every other time I drive my 944, the clutch remains on the floor (or very close to it). I can still shift my gears. I also can pull the clutch pedal back up and will operate fine again. I replace both the slave and master cylinder about 2 years ago. I don't see any fluid leaks and my resevoir is filled to the max level. Any ideas on what is going wrong or what I should check?

i have the same problem with my 87 924s. i have spent hours bleeding the system ( at the track after being sent to pits ) and the problem remains. I am going to check the feed hose from the fluid res. to the master to see if it my have a pinhole leak. if you try this be very careful not to break the plastic male fitting on the master. Good luck ,and please post anything that might help

Not sure if this is common knowledge, but make sure to raise the aft end [must be higher than the front ] while bleeding...

Try to pressure bleed it with one of those bug sprayer looking tanks that snap on tools or other tool men sell matco, mac,or corwell tools sells. Pressurise system to 15 to 20 psi max. And open bleeder screw on slave cyl. With a peice of vacumn hose in a soda bottle to catch fluid in get in car and by hand pull pedal up and down slowly about 8 to 10 times then tighten bleeder screw or you can buy master cyl. Bleeder pressure cap (cheaper than bug sprayer system) and with a adjustable air line valve you can pressurise system with shop air system or a air tank but you only have enough brake fluid in master cyl. Resivour to bleed with so you have to be carful that you do not run out. Try these methods. They can be a pain to bleed. Also check clutch master cyl. Push rod length it should have a 0.50 mm play before it starts to push in piston you have to pull back boot to see clearence it is adjustable by 13mm jam nut on rod good luck regards tom

I've got a pressure bleeder. I tried a similiar way as you've described except I didn't use my hand... the clutch pedal was fine before I replaced the clutch so I'm certain everything else is okay... it's kinds strange because if I push and release it quickly it will come back up while driving.

A few weeks ago I rebuilt the master cylinder and it bled out just fine and the pedal was fine then too. I checked this morning there are no leaks and my fluid wasn't down any.
