OT:FREE 86' Saab 900 & 84' Audi 5000
A friend was over tonight and gave me two cars! Audi is an auto and has tranny problems, Saab is a 5sp and pops out of first gear. Other wise both cars run and are in decent shape.
I'm thinking fix and sell the Audi then use the money to turn the Saab into a track car. Do you track guys see many Saabs? Front wheel drive a problem? |

A friend of mine used to have a saab and the engines have an interesting history. They used to make marine motors so the motor had an interesting feature that if you turned the timing completely around you could make it go in reverse and if you time it right you could cut it off and on the last hint of life cut it back on in reverse.
While rebuilding the car they timed it 180 degrees off by accident and it started up backwards! They took it around the block with 4 reverse gears and 1 really low foreward gear once....backwards...."just for the sheer perversity of it." anyway...just kinda amusing. CD

I'd swap the tranny in the audi with a manual one, sell the saab, track the audi.
I'm in NC, if you're around I have access to two manual transaxles that would bolt up. Both are from the quattro though, and though I'm sure they could be used on a front drive only, that wouldn't be a good choice for a track car IMO. Ahmet
