944 hub alternative
 

so i'm not having the best luck fining a hub for my early car locally and the ones on fleabay are to expensive.

Are there any other vehicles that use the same hubs like an older VW?

All of the 944 Hubs are the same up to 1986 to include the Turbo models, these are all the early offset. Have you searched for other years that will fit your early car?

I do agree with you that the asking prices of the USED hubs are way out of line when they are continuously asking $100 to $200 for a front pair - There again I have never seen just a pair of hubs separately because they are almost always paired with the spindles, which may be worth the asking prices for the total assembly.

Also place a WTB (wanted to buy) here on Pelican - Used Parts Classified.

Find someone parting a 924S or 924 2.0 with front discs. Did you call PartsHeaven?

Money is just super tight and i want to make sure that i get the driver side b/c it has the least wear. The driver side hub and stub axle are perfect with no play i just want to make sure i get the same for the other side.

It's hard for me to spend 50 + or including shipping when at my local wrecker i think i paid like 10-15 $ with the stub axle.

1hr away there are bigger yards but i got some other issue with my car that just appeared after going up and down twisties in the mountains. Major brake noise, not a squeal but like an errr noise. so i gotta figure that out.. dam car is falling apart

Ok so now where does one get the Circlips that go inside the rear wheel bearings.

2.10, 2.15,2.20

I had to guess how much torque i put on the rear axle nut Me+buddy aproxx 350-360lbs standing on the ratchet.

Now i have play on the drivers side axle/hub assembly ( it moves in and out) when i didn't before. I just re-used the circlip with the new bearings i assume the play in the assembly is from the circlip being to small?

how does everyone else get the 350 ft lbs torque my torque wrench only goes to 250. and sears does not sell one that is higher

Half inch impact gun set to max? I don't really know if that's enough to produce 350 ft/lb though. If anyone says not, would a 3/4" gun do it (I do have one)? Anyways, there should not be ANY lateral (or radial, for that matter) runout on the assembly.

I have a nice hitachi 1/2 in impact gun but it does not go that high 150 ft lbs maybe.

Well i totaly have some play. I'm pretty sure it tight enough now but maybe not.

After re tightening the nut, it still has some play 1/8" or less. it's enough were i have to pull and push it and it makes the sound of a miss adjusted from wheel bearing.

An impact gun would work, but setting it to 350 ft would mean i would require a gun that maxes out at 350 no?

IMO, as tight as a 1/2 impact gun will get it is probably enough.

Torque will be given in Ft/Lbs -

A 200 pound man standing on a 5' bar = 1000Ft/Lbs.
A 150Lb. Man standing on a 3' bar = 450 Ft/Lbs, etc.

Length in Feet X Weight in Pounds = Ft/Lbs

That is exactly the method I used to tighten the crank bolt except I used a digital fish scale to pull on a modified 4' piece of scaffolding brace. Confirmed the torque later with my neighbor's 300FT-LB torque wrench. I was literally spot-on at 155LB-FT.
