Need help with Blaupunkt stereo
Just bought a cd player from Midwest and installed it, but I am getting terrible reception on FM (can actually get only 3 or 4 stations) and no AM. Any suggestions what may be wrong? Do I have a defective deck or did I do something wrong?

Sounds like your antena isn't hooked up or a bad connection on the antenna.

jr:
I am experiencing the same problem as you, and I think I know what the problem is. If you had a RENO (stock) unit before, there was a thin black wire was connected to the antenna feed going into the tape deck unit. I believe this wire needs to be connected to the ANT output in the DIN harness to power the amplification for the antenna. I have not had a chance to verify this, but I believe that is your problem. IF this is true, you're using your antenna without amplification, and if your antenna is the windshield mounted type, this would result in crappy reception. Can anyone verify this to help jr and I get some good radio reception? -Thanks! -Z-man.

You are correct Z-MAN, if you cant find the black wire just follow the antenna wire back and you should find the black wire that comes out of it. Mine was this way for about 4 months after I bought the car and found a post about it, now I get killer reception.

I had the same problem. I think this applies to 85.5 and newer cars with windshield antennas. My installer assumed the little black wire coming alongside the antenna cable was a ground and I had terribe radio reception. It really needs 12 volts and powers the booter. Hook that little black wire that looks like a ground wire up to the blue wire from the deck which should be the power antenna wire (it was blue with my new Blau). Booster is grounded from its bracket already. all of a sudden good radio reception.
