Wining sound from engine, alternator?

I have just started getting a wining sound for the engine bay coming from the direction of the alternator. Just had the water pump belts etc replaced. Could the mechanic have tightend the belts too tight ruining the alternator bearing

Thanks, Waxman

Yes. Or something is being pulled out of alignment and the belt is rubbing.

There are too many possible causes for the info given. Take it back to the mechanic and have him fix his work. If you were choosing to let a mechanic do the belts before, you are going to have to go back to him anyway to fix this. If you try to fix it yourself or wait too long he might not want to do it without charging.

The sound in the video "too tight balance belt" is the noise. The mechanic that did the work is no longer in the area (surprise) but I will find anotherand get it fixed

Thanks
