If you have seen my previous posts you know I have been bitten by the Porsche bug and am shopping for a high performance upgrade for my N/A 944. I am also a rabid stock Porsche fan so I want something not radically modified.
I found this ad but it is kind of scary because there is not much information about the car. And yes I was talking 944S2 or 911SC but Turbo S.... Hmmmmm BTW his email dose not work http://autos.recycler.com/asp/AdDetails.asp?PAGEACTION=+%3C%3C+PREV+&IDArray=%7B1%3A2959%3A9704%7D%7B2%3A9705%3A18388%7 D%7B3%3A19679%3A33170%7D%7B4%3A34148%3A54797%7D%7B 5%3A54804%3A61379%7D&optWtd=&optSrc=&curNP=0&curXP=15000&iNYr=&iXYr=&sKW=porsche&bAnd=1&iSC=5003&sAC=%27All%27&dtDF=&iP=4&bSQ=0&iSIDs=%2C+%2C+%2C+%2C+%2C+%2C+%2C+%2C+&sSPURL=&sSPURLName=&iID=21705&sBAC=714&bSQ=0

low mileage, price in the ballpark, without actually seeing the car. it's definitely one i'd go to see & drive if it sounds good over the phone.

A 13 year old Porsche with 52K that needs paint. The first thing I would ask myself is, "How neglected has this car been to need paint." If it hasn't been washed and waxed, then what else did the previous owner(s) not do...change oil, tune up, flush brake fluid, flush cooling system. All expensive fixes.
Also, the price seems pretty steep for a car that needs a paint job. A GOOD paint job will run you $2500+++ Get a professional mechanical and body inspection before you buy. Also, check the internet and find out what a 944 S is going for in the area and entire country.

I could not get the link to work, but there was a 1988 Turbo S for sale over here in Mass for $9500. I could get it for $8500. Maybe less if he still has it.
This is what I know about it. Was damaged by some one pooring paint over it. Salvage title. I ran a car fax and it showed this. There were many components replaced in the last 20K miles.. turbo, water pump clutch and some other little bits. The car was also recently repainted to correct some other little issues with body. I drove it and liked it a lot. At the time it was not painted. Anyway if you are interested I can forward the guys information. Eric ![]()

I should note that everything in Los Angeles is expensive, cars, real estate, women
![]() Anyway this price is not outrageous for this area, 944S2 - 951 - 911SC in excellent condition run $10-$15K. Yeah the paint thing indicates the car may not have been taken care of, however if the car is not garaged our famous L.A. smog will eat a paint job. ![]()

i don't think oxidized/chipped paint is a reliable indicator of how a car has been kept. the only way to tell is to see/drive it.
